keeping your hair fresh
1. Wait Before Washing
Hold off washing your hair for at least 48–72 hours after coloring. This gives the color time to fully set in the hair shaft.
2. Use Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner
Sulfates can strip color. Opt for color-safe, sulfate-free products specifically formulated for dyed hair.
3. Wash Less Frequently
Try to wash your hair 2–3 times a week. Over-washing fades color faster.
Use dry shampoo between washes to keep hair fresh.
4. Use Cold or Lukewarm Water
Hot water opens the hair cuticle, which can cause color to wash out. Rinse with cool water to help seal in color.
5. Limit Heat Styling
Excessive heat can fade color. Use heat protectant sprays and keep tools on low heat settings.
6. Protect Hair from the Sun
UV rays fade color. Wear a hat or use UV-protective hair products when you're out in the sun.
7. Avoid Chlorine and Saltwater
Chlorine and salt can strip color. Wear a swim cap or use a leave-in conditioner or protective oil before swimming.
8. Deep Condition Weekly
Color-treated hair needs moisture. Use a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask once a week to keep it healthy and vibrant.
9. Trim Regularly
Split ends make color look dull. Trim every 6–8 weeks to keep hair looking healthy and vibrant.
